Saturday: Reflections

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3: 22-23)

Another Saturday morning, with new mercies as we rise with the sun. There is a peace in knowing that something greater than all of us takes an invested interest in our small and humble lives. You may not feel small from where you are standing, but if your perspective is from above looking down, you come to find that you are just one tiny piece of the enormous puzzle of life. A few weeks ago, I learned about the passing of a neighbour from cancer, and a colleague at work from a heart attack. It took me by surprise when I cried tears because I didn’t realize how emotionally involved I truly was.

What more is that I come to understand how precious our days here really are, and how important it is to let others know how important they are to you today. Every day is a fresh start, a promise that God has given us for a chance to put our best foot forward, giving everything we have to change lives, and make a difference in this world. He has also given us an opportunity to love each other fiercely, leaving no one behind. If we make a point to rise each day with that purpose in mind, we will be living the life that God intended for us to live; happy, full and free. I write this message to you because I need you to know the source of my joy, and I hope for you to find that source for yourself, so that you too, can live a life of true contentment. Happy Saturday everyone!
